Refund Policy
Refund & Cancellation Policy
Last Updated: October 2026
At Traverse Yatra, we understand that travel plans can sometimes change due to personal circumstances, weather, government restrictions, or unforeseen situations. Our refund and cancellation policy is designed to provide clarity regarding payments, cancellations, refunds, and changes to confirmed travel bookings.
By making a booking or payment with Traverse Yatra, the customer acknowledges and agrees to the terms mentioned below.
1. Booking Advance
An advance payment is required to confirm a travel booking.
The advance is used to secure services such as hotels, transportation, permits, tickets, sightseeing, and other travel arrangements.
Once services have been booked with third-party suppliers, the applicable cancellation and refund policies of those suppliers may apply.
Therefore, the entire advance amount may not always be refundable.
2. Cancellation by Customer
Any cancellation request must be communicated to Traverse Yatra in writing through an accepted communication channel.
The refund amount will depend on:
Date of cancellation
Number of days remaining before the scheduled travel date
Hotel cancellation policy
Vehicle cancellation policy
Permit cancellation rules
Ticket cancellation rules
Supplier and local partner policies
Peak-season or special booking conditions
Any non-refundable amount already paid to service providers
The applicable cancellation charges will be deducted before processing any eligible refund.
3. Hotel Cancellation
Hotel bookings are subject to the cancellation policy of the respective hotel or accommodation provider.
Some hotels may provide a full or partial refund if cancellation is made within the permitted period, while other bookings may be non-refundable after confirmation.
Any refund received from the hotel will be passed on to the customer after deduction of applicable charges, where relevant.
4. Transportation Cancellation
Vehicle and transportation bookings are subject to the cancellation conditions of the respective transport provider or local operator.
Cancellation charges may apply depending on the time of cancellation and vehicle availability.
If a vehicle has already been assigned, dispatched, or held exclusively for a customer, the applicable amount may become non-refundable.
5. Permit & Restricted Area Charges
Certain destinations require permits or advance payments to government authorities or local operators.
Permit charges may be non-refundable once the permit application or processing has been completed.
For restricted and weather-sensitive destinations such as Zero Point, Nathula Pass, Gurudongmar Lake, and other regulated areas, access may depend on government permission, weather, road conditions, security restrictions, and local authorities.
If a permit has been issued or an amount has already been paid to the concerned authority or service provider, that amount may not be refundable.
6. Zero Point & Weather-Sensitive Sightseeing
Zero Point and similar high-altitude or restricted sightseeing locations may be affected by weather, road conditions, government regulations, or local restrictions.
Where the applicable permit is processed in advance, the amount may become non-refundable if the route is subsequently closed or access is restricted.
Where possible, Traverse Yatra may follow the prevailing local procedure and process such permits closer to the travel date after checking the operational status.
Any refund will be subject to the amount actually refunded by the relevant authority or service provider.
7. Cancellation Due to Government Restrictions
If a destination, road, sightseeing point, or travel route is closed by the government or relevant authority, Traverse Yatra will make reasonable efforts to provide an alternative arrangement.
If a refund is available from the concerned hotel, vehicle operator, government authority, or supplier, the refundable amount will be processed after applicable deductions.
Traverse Yatra cannot guarantee a full refund for services that have already been booked, consumed, processed, or paid to third parties.
8. Cancellation Due to Weather or Natural Events
Travel services may be affected by:
Heavy snowfall
Landslides
Floods
Road blockages
Severe weather
Natural disasters
Government restrictions
Security restrictions
Other unforeseen circumstances
In such situations, Traverse Yatra will make reasonable efforts to assist the customer with alternative arrangements.
Refunds, if applicable, will depend on the amount recoverable from the relevant service providers.
9. No-Show
If a customer fails to arrive at the designated pickup point, hotel, transport location, or other agreed location without prior notice, the booking may be treated as a no-show.
No-show bookings may be completely non-refundable depending on the policies of the relevant service providers.
10. Early Return or Unused Services
No automatic refund will be provided for services that are voluntarily unused by the customer after the trip has started.
Examples include:
Leaving the tour early
Not using the booked vehicle
Not staying at the booked hotel
Skipping sightseeing
Not using included meals
Missing a transfer
Choosing not to use a confirmed service
Any refund will depend entirely on whether the concerned service provider agrees to issue a refund.
11. Changes to Booking
Changes to confirmed bookings, including:
Travel dates
Number of travellers
Hotel category
Room type
Vehicle type
Destination
Sightseeing
Duration of the trip
are subject to availability and may result in additional charges.
If the change results in a lower package price, the difference will be refunded only where the relevant service providers allow such adjustment.
12. Refund Processing
Once a refund is approved, Traverse Yatra will process the eligible amount after receiving the necessary confirmation from the relevant service providers.
The refund timeline may vary depending on:
Hotel or supplier processing time
Bank processing time
Payment gateway
Payment method
Cancellation verification
Customers may be required to provide appropriate payment or bank details for processing an approved refund.
13. Payment Gateway & Transaction Charges
Payment gateway charges, banking charges, transaction fees, convenience fees, or other third-party processing charges may be non-refundable where they have already been incurred.
Such charges may be deducted from the refundable amount where applicable.
14. Partial Refunds
Where only certain components of a package are refundable, Traverse Yatra may issue a partial refund after deducting non-refundable services and applicable cancellation charges.
For example, if a hotel is refundable but a permit or transportation service is non-refundable, only the eligible refundable portion may be returned.
15. Package-Specific Cancellation Terms
Some travel packages, hotels, tickets, special offers, group departures, peak-season bookings, and promotional packages may have cancellation conditions different from this general policy.
Where specific cancellation terms are mentioned in the quotation, invoice, booking confirmation, or itinerary, those specific terms will apply to the relevant booking.
16. Refund for Overpayment
If a customer has accidentally made an excess payment, the excess amount may be refunded after verification of the transaction.
Applicable banking or payment-processing charges may be deducted where relevant.
17. Non-Refundable Services
The following may be non-refundable depending on the specific booking:
Government permits
Special sightseeing permits
Certain hotel bookings
Non-refundable hotel rates
Transportation already arranged
Tickets
Special activities
Advance payments to local suppliers
Payment gateway or transaction charges
Promotional or discounted bookings
Services already consumed
No-show bookings
18. Refund Eligibility
A refund is not automatically guaranteed merely because a customer cancels a booking.
The final refundable amount will be calculated based on the actual cancellation terms applicable to each service included in the customer's booking.
Traverse Yatra will provide reasonable assistance and transparency regarding the calculation of any eligible refund.
19. Force Majeure
Traverse Yatra shall not be responsible for providing a full refund where services cannot be delivered due to circumstances beyond reasonable control, including natural disasters, severe weather, government restrictions, road closures, strikes, civil disturbances, war, security restrictions, pandemics, or other unforeseen events.
In such situations, Traverse Yatra will make reasonable efforts to obtain refunds or alternative arrangements from the relevant service providers.
Any amount recovered from suppliers, hotels, transport operators, or authorities will be handled according to their applicable policies.
